How students pay you online: Fawry, mobile wallets, cards, and withdrawing to Vodafone Cash and InstaPay

Students pay on your own site in EGP through the Fawaterak payment gateway, by methods such as card, Fawry and Aman codes, and wallets like Vodafone Cash, and the course or group unlocks for them automatically. On Snatr your price reaches you in full: the money goes into your wallet, and you withdraw it to Vodafone Cash, InstaPay or your bank account after a holding period, currently 7 days.

How a student pays you online on Snatr

  1. 1

The student opens your site and signs up

They go to your site, create an account with their mobile number or email, and choose the course or group they want.

  2. 2

    They choose how to pay

They see the payment methods the Fawaterak gateway offers, such as card, Fawry, Aman and wallets. If they have a discount coupon, they enter it before paying.

  3. 3

    They pay

By card or wallet they pay straight away. If they choose Fawry or Aman, they get a code to pay in cash at any outlet within 24 hours.

  4. 4

    The course unlocks by itself

As soon as payment is confirmed, the course or group opens for the student, with nothing for you or an assistant to check by hand.

  5. 5

    The money reaches your wallet

The amount appears in your Snatr wallet and becomes available to withdraw after the holding period, currently 7 days.

  6. 6

You withdraw to Vodafone Cash or InstaPay

Request a withdrawal to Vodafone Cash, InstaPay or your bank account. The amount is reserved from your balance when you file the request, and the Snatr team approves and pays it.

How can students pay?

Students pay in Egyptian pounds on your site through the Fawaterak payment gateway. The methods they see come from the gateway itself, and include methods such as:

Students can join you from any country. A student abroad pays with an international card; the amount is charged in Egyptian pounds and their bank converts it to their currency. Fawry, Aman and mobile wallets are Egyptian methods, for students in Egypt.

InstaPay is not a way for students to pay on the platform. InstaPay is for you, to withdraw your money.

Each payment is for one student and one course or group. Snatr bears the payment gateway's fee, not you.

  • Card: Visa or Mastercard, whether an Egyptian card or an international one from any country.
  • Fawry and Aman codes: the student gets a code and pays it in cash at any outlet; the code is valid for 24 hours.
  • Mobile wallets such as Vodafone Cash.

Does my full price reach me?

Yes. Your price reaches you in full, and nothing is deducted from it. If the platform charges a commission on online payments, it is added on top for the student.

An illustration only; the figures are not real prices or a real rate: if a course costs 1,000 EGP and the commission were 10%, the student would pay 1,100 EGP and you would receive the full 1,000. The commission rate is set by the platform's administration.

That matters for your sums: the price you put on the course is what reaches you, so you do not need to raise it to cover a cut taken from you.

Where does the money go, and when can I withdraw it?

Every payment goes into your Snatr wallet. It is held for a period, currently 7 days, and then becomes available to withdraw. The wallet shows you these figures separately:

You withdraw to Vodafone Cash, InstaPay or your bank account. As soon as you file a request, the amount is reserved from your balance so it cannot be withdrawn twice; the Snatr team then approves the request and pays you. Withdrawals are not instant, and if a request is rejected the amount returns to your wallet.

What it meansCan you withdraw it?
BalanceAll the money in your wallet, held and availableNot all of it
HeldPayments still within the holding periodNo, not until the period ends
AvailableBalance minus heldYes, with a 100 EGP minimum at present

What about students who pay cash at the centre?

You enrol them by hand. If a student paid you cash at the centre, you enrol them in the course or group from the dashboard, with no commission and without the money passing through your wallet.

  • Create a student's account yourself with a password and hand it to them.
  • Suspend any student's access at any time, if their subscription has ended or they have not paid.
  • Choose what students fill in when they register: governorate, city, stage, national ID photo and a parent's phone number.

Prepaid codes and cards: can I sell cards at the centre or a bookshop?

Yes. Generate codes, print them as cards, and sell them for cash at the centre, in bookshops, or through anyone who distributes for you. The student types the code into their account on your site.

  • A code can unlock a specific course or group, for a number of months or sessions you choose.
  • Or it can add credit to the student's balance on your site, to spend later.
  • Cards suit a student with no card or wallet, and a parent who prefers to pay cash to someone they know.

How do discount coupons work?

Create a coupon for a percentage or a fixed amount off, and decide what it applies to and how it can be used:

  • The whole site, a specific course, a specific group, or a whole school stage.
  • A set number of uses, or unlimited.
  • Each student can use it once.
  • You choose whether it also applies to items that are already discounted.

Where do I keep track of my money?

In the dashboard. Every payment attempt appears in the transactions list, successful or not, so you can see who tried to pay and where they stopped.

  • A list of students who signed up but did not buy, so you can contact them or send a coupon.
  • One ledger for every money movement on your account.
  • Monthly earnings reports and a chart.
  • A dashboard notification for every new payment and every update to your withdrawal requests.

Vodafone Cash transfers to your number, or payment on the platform?

A transfer to your own number is easy and the money arrives at once; that is its real advantage. The trouble starts as student numbers grow:

With a few students you know by name, transfers to your number may be enough. With many groups every month, payment on the platform saves hours of checking and ends the 'I swear I transferred it' conversations without proof.

Worth knowing before you rely on online payment

  • There are no instalments for students: no ValU and no bank instalment plans.
  • The payment gateway decides which methods are available, so a method can be added or removed without Snatr deciding it.
  • Withdrawals are not instant: money waits out the holding period, and each withdrawal is approved by the Snatr team before it is paid.
  • A Fawry or Aman code is valid for 24 hours. If the student does not pay within that time, they place a new order.
  • There is no marketplace that brings you students, and no affiliate programme.
  • No WhatsApp or SMS messages go to the student or parent after payment. Notifications appear inside the platform.
