Parents

Parent follow-up: how can a parent see their child's attendance and grades without calling you?

On Snatr, parents have a portal on your own site, which they open with an email and password you create. They see their child's centre attendance, absences and lateness, and their grades and payments once the student has a linked online account. The portal is read-only, one parent follows several children, and it is in every plan. There are no WhatsApp or SMS messages; alerts appear inside the portal.

Last updated:

  • The portal is on your site and in your name, in Arabic, and opens in a phone browser with no app.
  • Centre attendance shows straight away. Grades and payments show once the child has a linked online account.
  • Alerts cover absence and lateness and appear inside the portal only.
  • Parents can only read, and cannot change anything except their own password.
  • One parent follows all their children from one account, even when each is in a different group.

How do you create a parent account?

  1. 1

Register the student at the centre

Add the student to your centre students and their group, and they get an ST- code and a QR card. To collect the parent's number from the start, make "parent phone" a field in your site's student sign-up form.

  2. 2

Open the parents screen and create the account

In the dashboard, open Parents and create an account with the parent's name and email, a mobile number if you like, and a password of 8 characters or more.

  3. 3

Link their children in the same step

While creating the account, pick their children from your centre students. Siblings can be in different groups and all appear in the same account.

  4. 4

Link the student's online account, if they have one

If the student has an account on your site, linking their centre profile to it is what makes their grades and payments visible to the parent.

  5. 5

Send the parent the link and password

The parent signs in from the parents' login page on your site, and can change the password in settings afterwards.

What exactly does a parent see?

The portal has six sections, each answering a question parents actually ask: "Did my child attend?", "What did they score?" and "Have they paid?".

If the child has no online account, the grades and payments sections do not appear at all, rather than showing zeros that confuse the parent. Attendance at online sessions is not shown in the portal yet, and it says so.

One parent, several children

Siblings at the same centre are very common, so one account holds all of a parent's children. If a younger sibling joins later, you add them to the same account from the parent's page, with no second account.

  • Each child has their own profile with their attendance and grades.
  • Siblings can be in different groups or branches.
  • From each parent's page you see who is linked to whom and when they last signed in.

Read-only: a parent changes nothing

The only thing a parent writes in the portal is their own password. There is no button to edit attendance, no grade field and no option to change which children are theirs. That is deliberate: the portal answers "how is my child doing", not a place to fix things.

  • A parent sees only their own children. Trying to open another student's profile from the address bar returns "not found".
  • The account works on your site only and does not open any other teacher's site on Snatr.
  • Suspending the account or changing its password ends every open session at that moment.

Alerts: absence and lateness inside the portal

When a register is saved with the child marked absent or late, the parent finds an alert in the notifications section. A student is marked late when they arrive 10 or more minutes after the start.

These alerts stay inside the portal. The platform does not send WhatsApp or SMS messages to parents, so a parent who does not open the portal will not know. If you want parents to know the same day, ask them to check the portal after the session, or message them on WhatsApp yourself.

The parent's number in the student sign-up form

You choose what a student fills in when signing up on your site, and the parent's phone is one of the available fields, next to governorate, city, stage and a national ID photo. That gives you the parent's number from day one, to call them and create their portal account.

Students sign in with a phone number or email. The parent's account is separate from the student's, so a parent does not need their child's password and the child does not see the parent's portal.

A parent forgot their password?

There is no "forgot password" in the parent portal. The parent contacts you, you set a new password from their page in the dashboard, and they change it if they like. Any new password ends all older sessions on the account.

A portal on your site, WhatsApp messages, or an app?

There are three common ways to keep parents informed, and each has a strength. Other centre programs such as KIRA and Koshoof send WhatsApp or Telegram messages as published on their sites, which reach parents without them opening anything.

The portal's limits, plainly

  • Grades and payments show only when the child has an online account linked to their centre profile. Attendance at online sessions is not shown in the portal yet.
  • There are no WhatsApp or SMS messages to parents. Absence and lateness alerts stay inside the portal.
  • The portal is in Arabic only.
  • There is no password recovery in the portal; a parent asks the teacher to set a new password.
  • Parents sign in with an email, so they need an email address.
  • There is no app in the stores; the portal opens in a phone browser.

Questions about parent follow-up

Can a parent follow their child's attendance and grades without calling me?

Yes. They log in to the parent portal on your site and see centre attendance, absences and lateness. Grades and payments appear once the child has a linked online account.

Where do parents log in?

From the parents' login page on your site, with the email and password you created for them.

I have two brothers in different groups. Do I create two accounts?

No. One parent follows all their children from one account, even when each is in a different group or branch.

Does the parent get a message when their child is absent?

Not by WhatsApp or SMS. Absence and lateness appear as alerts inside the portal once the register is saved.

Can a parent change anything or see other students?

No. The portal is read-only and parents see only their own children. The only thing they can change is their own password.

A parent forgot their password. What do they do?

They contact you, and you set a new password from the dashboard. That also ends every older session on the account.

Does the parent portal cost extra?

No, the parent portal is part of centre management and is in every plan. Current plans: Starter at 999 EGP a month for up to 100 students; Basic at 1,999 EGP a month for up to 200 students; Pro at 2,999 EGP a month for up to 400 students.

Is the portal available in English?

No, the parent portal is in Arabic only, even if your site is in Arabic and English.
