What is Basata, and who is it for?

Basata is an Egyptian platform that builds you a store under your name, where you sell courses, PDF study notes, templates, subscriptions, activation codes and consultations. Its website is basata.shop, so if you are searching for basata shop, that is the site itself. It describes itself as "a global Arabic platform" for content creators, teachers, trainers and academies.

Basata starts free. The free plan has no monthly subscription, and the platform takes 5% of every confirmed sale. If you need more storage and a custom domain, there is a Pro plan at 149 EGP a month, and the 5% stays the same. Students pay in EGP with many Egyptian methods, such as Fawry and mobile wallets.

Basata is built for selling by anyone with a digital product. It has a marketplace that shows stores' products in one place, certificates for students, discount coupons, and activation codes that can be sold at a tutoring center or a bookshop. It also has an AI assistant that builds your store from plain instructions.

What is missing from Basata's pages is the part a center owner lives in every day. Its page for centers and academies talks about online courses: a page for each teacher, subscriptions, exams and reports. It does not mention branches, scheduled groups, an attendance sheet or a QR card.

Snatr at snatr.com also builds you a platform under your name, but it was built for teachers and centers in Egypt from the start. Groups, attendance, parents, live classes and recorded courses are all in one account. If you are comparing Snatr with other platforms too, see all Snatr comparisons.

Is Basata free? And what does its commission cost you against a Snatr subscription?

Yes, Basata starts free and takes 5% of every sale, so the commission grows with every new student. Snatr is a fixed subscription from 999 EGP that takes no share of your sales, and you receive your full price.

In Snatr

  • Starter: 999 EGP a month, 100 students, 50 GB, and each extra student costs 15 EGP.
  • Basic: 1,999 EGP, 200 students, 150 GB, and each extra student costs 10 EGP.
  • Pro: 2,999 EGP, 400 students, 300 GB, each extra student costs 7 EGP, plus live classes and a custom domain.
  • You receive your full price, and the platform fee is added on top of your price, paid by the student.
  • No free plan: there is a 7-day trial, and the website is closed after it without a subscription.

In ⁨Basata⁩

  • Free: 0 EGP, 5 GB, and unlimited products, orders and views.
  • Pro: 149 EGP a month or 1,490 EGP a year, and 25 GB.
  • A 5% commission on every confirmed sale on both plans, and no fees if there are no sales.
  • Payment company fees, if any, are deducted from you separately, and their rate is not published.
  • Pro Max at 499 EGP is mentioned in their FAQ, and its details are not on the pricing page.

Example: a teacher with 100 students paying 300 EGP a month

Snatr leaves you about 500 EGP more a month, before Basata's payment fees

Snatr (Starter)Basata (Free)

Payment company feesNot deducted from youDeducted from you if any, rate not published
What reaches you each month29,001 EGP28,500 EGP minus payment fees

The difference is 501 EGP a month, about 6,000 EGP a year, before Basata's payment fees. Basata's Pro plan (149 EGP) leaves you 28,351 EGP before payment fees. The calculation does not include the first-500-sellers offer. On Snatr, the student pays the platform fee on top of the 300 EGP.

Students paying 300 EGP a monthWhat reaches you on SnatrWhat reaches you on Basata (Free)Difference
50 students (15,000 EGP)14,001 EGP (Starter)14,250 EGP minus payment feesBasata higher by 249 EGP before payment fees
100 students (30,000 EGP)29,001 EGP (Starter)28,500 EGP minus payment feesSnatr higher by 501 EGP
200 students (60,000 EGP)58,001 EGP (Basic)57,000 EGP minus payment feesSnatr higher by 1,001 EGP
400 students (120,000 EGP)117,001 EGP (Pro)114,000 EGP minus payment feesSnatr higher by 3,001 EGP

On Basata the 5% grows with your sales: 1,000 EGP on 20,000 EGP of sales, and 3,000 on 60,000. On Snatr the subscription is fixed, and an extra student is charged only once. If you need live classes, you need the Pro plan at 2,999 EGP a month.

On Basata's home page on 7 October 2026 there is an offer: the first 500 sellers pay 0% commission for 3 months. And if you connect a payment gateway in your own name, their digital products page says the commission is removed, and you pay a fixed fee on every order instead. The amount of that fee is not published.

Note one difference in how it is calculated. On Snatr, the platform fee on online payments is paid by the student on top of your price, so if you want the student to pay exactly 300 EGP, set your price a little lower. On Basata, the student pays the price you set, and the 5% is deducted from you.

A group's price on Snatr can be per month or per class. A student who paid you cash at the center is enrolled manually with no commission. See Snatr's pricing in detail.

In short: Choose the Snatr plan that covers your number of students. 400 students on the Starter plan would cost you 5,499 EGP a month, and on the Pro plan only 2,999 EGP.

Does Basata accept payment in EGP, Fawry and mobile wallets?

Yes. Basata's pages say students pay in EGP with Visa, Fawry, Aman and mobile wallets, and that you withdraw to Vodafone Cash or InstaPay. Snatr also accepts cards, Fawry and mobile wallets. The difference is who pays the fees.

In Snatr

  • Students pay in EGP by card, Visa and Mastercard.
  • Fawry: the student gets a code and pays it at any Fawry outlet within 24 hours.
  • Mobile wallets such as Vodafone Cash.
  • The money goes into your Snatr wallet and can be withdrawn after a safety period, currently 7 days.
  • You do not need an account with any payment company, and no payment fees are deducted from your price.

In ⁨Basata⁩

  • Visa, Mastercard, Meeza, Vodafone Cash, Orange Cash, Fawry, Aman and Apple Pay.
  • Manual payment by Vodafone Cash or InstaPay: you check the transfer and activate the student within 24 hours.
  • Earnings are withdrawn to Vodafone Cash, InstaPay or your bank account.
  • Collection is through a licensed payment gateway, and Basata says it does not hold sellers' money.
  • You can connect a payment gateway in your own name, such as Stripe, PayPal and Tap.

According to Basata's pricing page, sales money reaches you according to the payment company's settlement cycle, and its fees follow its own rates. How long the money takes to arrive and the minimum withdrawal are not published on their pages, so ask them about both before you start.

On Snatr, the minimum withdrawal is currently 100 EGP, to Vodafone Cash, InstaPay or your bank account. A student who paid you cash at the center is enrolled manually from the dashboard, with no commission.

Basata also says you can start as an individual without a commercial registration. On Snatr, you do not need to open an account with a payment company, because the student pays on your platform and the money goes into your wallet.

Protecting video from leaks: Basata or Snatr?

Snatr encrypts the video file itself, so download tools fail, and this has been measured. Basata protects with four layers: a watermark, a single device, download blocking and an alert on screen recording. Its pages do not mention file encryption.

In Snatr

  • Uploaded video is encrypted, and its key goes to the browser's decryption module, not to the page.
  • Download extensions, "paste your link" sites and yt-dlp cannot download it.
  • A moving watermark on the video, showing the student's name.
  • A student is signed in on one device at a time: signing in on a new device signs the old one out.
  • Storage is 50 GB on the first plan and 300 GB on the Pro plan.

In ⁨Basata⁩

  • A moving watermark with the student's name, phone number and email.
  • The account works on one device only, so the student cannot share it.
  • Blocking downloads and right-click, and temporary links for files.
  • It says it detects screen recording attempts and sends an alert.
  • Storage is 5 GB on Free and 25 GB on Pro.

The measurement on Snatr: without the key, the file comes out as noise, with a similarity to the original of only 10.6 dB. With the key, it comes out intact at 59.9 dB, and the higher the number, the closer the picture is to the original. Basata has not published any measurement like this.

Basata itself says in its protection guide: "there is no protection that prevents filming or copying 100%". That is true on Snatr too: screen recording is not blocked, and neither is a phone filming the screen. The watermark deters it, because the student's name shows on the recording.

On iPhone and iPad, video on Snatr plays normally, and ready-made download tools fail there too. But the protection there is somewhat weaker against a technically skilled person. This protection covers the video you upload; a YouTube link in a lesson stays an ordinary YouTube video. Learn about video protection on Snatr.

In short: Snatr's encryption stops download tools, and that is measured, and its first plan has ten times the storage of Basata's first plan. On Basata an account works on one device only, and on Snatr on one device at a time.

Live classes and exams: Zoom on Basata or streaming inside Snatr?

Snatr has live classes inside your platform on the Pro plan, with no Zoom or Google Meet, and attendance is recorded automatically. Basata connects your live classes to Zoom. Self-grading exams are on both.

In Snatr

  • Students watch the lesson on your platform and under your name, with chat and hand raising.
  • You can give a student the mic to speak in front of classmates, and assistants can supervise the class.
  • Live attendance is recorded automatically: present or late.
  • Self-grading exams and homework, and the grade shows to the student and the parent.
  • Printable completion certificates, with a QR code that opens a verification page on your site.

In ⁨Basata⁩

  • Zoom integration for live sessions, and the student finds the time and join link in their account.
  • One-to-one session booking, with Zoom or Google Calendar integration.
  • A question bank and quizzes with instant grading, and homework with grades and feedback.
  • A completion certificate with a serial number, on the free plan too.

On Snatr the class, attendance and the group are in one place, with no Zoom account to connect to your platform. Live classes are on the Pro plan.

Class recording on Snatr is a feature that gets switched on, and when it is on, the recording is added to the student group. Live streams are not encrypted like uploaded video: they carry a watermark and a temporary link, and screen recording works.

If you sell professional courses and the student wants a certificate for their CV, both platforms issue completion certificates. If you teach a school curriculum, the grade the parent sees matters more than a certificate.

Basata or Snatr: which suits a teacher with a tutoring center in Egypt?

Snatr. It has branches and scheduled groups, an attendance sheet with a QR card, a parent portal and assistants with permissions. Basata's centers page talks about online courses, and does not mention attendance or branches.

In Snatr

  • Branches and groups with schedules and seat limits, and an attendance sheet for every class.
  • Attendance with a printed QR card for each student, or manually.
  • A parent portal on your website, where parents see their child's attendance and grades.
  • Assistants and front-desk staff with their own accounts, and 4 ready-made permission presets.
  • The center and your online courses in the same account.

In ⁨Basata⁩

  • A page for each teacher with their courses under the academy's name, plus subscriptions, exams and reports.
  • Activation codes you print and sell at the center, which the student uses to activate the course.
  • Parent details on the student's account, and tracking of grades and viewing rate.
  • Attendance, branches, a QR card and assistant accounts are not mentioned on its pages.

Snatr's QR card carries a signed code that cannot be forged, and the assistant scans it at the door. But the card can be photographed and sent to someone else, so it is card attendance, not a fingerprint.

The four assistant presets are front desk, branch supervisor, academic assistant and full access. If you remove a permission from an assistant, it is removed that same moment.

Activation codes are a real advantage for a center, because a student can buy a card with cash without paying online, and both platforms have them. On Snatr, a code unlocks a course or a group for a number of months or classes, or adds credit to the student's balance on your site. You can also enroll a cash-paying student manually from the dashboard, with no commission.

In short: If you run a center, Basata will cover the online side, and you will still need a notebook or another program for attendance and groups. See center management on Snatr.

A platform under your name and a custom domain: what is the difference?

Both platforms give you a website under your name and a custom domain. On Basata the domain comes with the Pro plan at 149 EGP, and you connect it yourself. On Snatr it is on the Pro plan at 2,999 EGP, the Snatr team buys and connects it, and the first year is free.

In Snatr

  • A site in your name from day one.
  • A custom domain on the Pro plan only, and not available during the trial.
  • The Snatr team buys and connects the domain, and the first year is free with the plan.
  • 30 ready-made designs you edit with no code, and your first two designs are free.
  • Your website can be in Arabic, English or both.

In ⁨Basata⁩

  • Your link, like yourname.basata.shop.
  • Connecting a custom domain and removing the "Powered by Basata" badge on the Pro plan.
  • 5 free ready-made designs, and a page editor.
  • An AI assistant that builds the store and changes its look from plain instructions.

Removing the "Powered by Basata" badge is listed among Pro's features, which means on the free plan the badge stays on your store. Their pages say "connect your own domain", and do not mention them buying it for you.

On Snatr, once the domain is connected, the old link redirects to it automatically and keeps your Google ranking. If you want a ready-made website where you change your own text, colors and images, browse Snatr's designs.

Sales tools and digital products: Basata or Snatr?

Basata has ad pixels, a product marketplace, and selling notes and templates as standalone products, which Snatr does not have. Coupons and activation codes are on both.

In Snatr

  • Discount coupons, but no affiliate marketing and no email marketing.
  • No marketplace that brings you new students, and marketing is up to you.
  • You cannot have several teachers with split earnings on the same platform.
  • Completion certificates, and activation codes you print and sell for cash.

In ⁨Basata⁩

  • Discount coupons, and course bundles at a reduced price.
  • Meta and TikTok pixels, meaning code that measures your ads' results on your store.
  • The Basata marketplace shows stores' products in one place.
  • PDF notes, templates and booked consultations, each sold on its own.
  • Monthly subscriptions that renew automatically, and pricing in more than 24 currencies.

Think about your students before you choose on marketing tools. A Thanaweya Amma (Egypt's final secondary-school year) student does not come from a TikTok ad to a sales page. They come from the center, from the WhatsApp group and from their parent. If that is your audience, attendance, parents and live classes will matter more to you than ad tools.

How to move from Basata to Snatr

  1. 1

Try Snatr before you close your store

Open your account on Snatr and use the 7-day free trial. Keep your store on Basata running until you are sure everything has moved. Note that your Snatr website is closed when the trial ends without a subscription.

  2. 2

Get copies of your videos and files ready

Gather the original copies of your lesson videos and study notes on your computer. Upload the videos to Snatr so they get encrypted. If you have free lessons on YouTube, you can add their links instead of uploading them.

  3. 3

Create your courses and groups with their prices

Create each course with its lessons and exams, and set its price in EGP. For groups, choose a price per month or per class. Remember that Snatr's fee is added on top of your price, paid by the student.

  4. 4

Enroll your current students without them paying again

Student accounts do not move between platforms automatically. A student who already paid you can be enrolled manually from the dashboard with no commission, and then you send them your new platform link.

  5. 5

Use up the activation codes already sold

If you sold activation codes at the center on Basata, have the students who hold codes activate them first, or enroll them manually on Snatr. After that, print Snatr cards and sell them at the center the same way.

  6. 6

Set up the center and the cards

Create your branches and groups with their schedules, and print a QR card for each student. Open an account for each assistant with the permissions you choose, and send each parent their login details for the portal.

  7. 7

    Close your store on Basata

Basata's policy says you can pause or delete your store from the dashboard at any time, and the data is kept for a limited period. The monthly Pro subscription can be canceled at any time. If you have a custom domain connected there, ask Snatr support before you cancel.

Snatr's limits, before you sign up

We list them up front so you decide knowing everything.

  • No free plan: there is only a 7-day trial, after which the subscription starts at 999 EGP a month.
  • No ad pixels or affiliate marketing: and no email marketing either.
  • No product marketplace: Snatr does not bring you new students, and marketing is up to you.
  • One teacher per platform: you cannot have several teachers with split earnings on the same platform.
  • No app under your name: there is no app on Google Play or the App Store, and your platform works in the phone's browser.
  • No messages to parents: no WhatsApp or SMS messages are sent automatically. Parents follow along from their portal on your website.
  • No installments: students cannot pay in installments with valU or banks.
  • Screen recording is not blocked: nor is a phone filming the screen. The watermark puts the student's name on the recording, which deters, but it is not proof.
  • Custom domain on the Pro plan only: and it is not available during the trial.
  • The first plan has 100 students: each extra student is charged to you, and sign-ups never stop.
  • Plan changes go through support: you do not change your plan yourself from the dashboard.

Frequently asked questions

Snatr or Basata: which is better for a teacher in Egypt?

Snatr is better for a teacher in Egypt with groups or a tutoring center. It has QR card attendance, branches and scheduled groups, a parent portal, live classes inside your platform on the Pro plan, and encrypted video. Its subscription is fixed, and you receive your full price. Basata starts free and takes 5% of every sale, so the commission grows with every new student, and its pages do not mention attendance or branches.

Is basata shop the website of the Basata platform?

Yes. basata.shop is the official website of the Basata platform, and each seller's store sits on a subdomain like yourname.basata.shop. This comparison is based on the information published on basata.shop on 7 October 2026.

How much commission does Basata take?

According to Basata's pricing page, 5% of every confirmed sale, on the free plan and on the Pro plan too. There are no fees if there are no sales. Payment company fees, if any, are deducted separately. On Snatr, nothing is deducted from your price, and the platform fee is added on top, paid by the student.

Is Basata an Egyptian platform?

Yes. Basata's terms of use say it is an Egyptian platform, its contact page says it is based in Egypt, and its WhatsApp number is Egyptian. Snatr is also an Egyptian platform, built for teachers and centers in Egypt.

Does Basata block screen recording?

Basata says it detects screen recording attempts and sends an alert, and it also says in its protection guide that no protection prevents filming 100%. Snatr does not block screen recording, or a phone filming the screen. What Snatr blocks is downloading, because the video is encrypted, and the watermark shows the student's name.

Can I sell activation codes at my center on Snatr?

Yes. Snatr generates cards with activation codes that you print and sell for cash at the center or a bookshop. A code unlocks a specific course or group for a number of months or classes, or adds credit to the student's balance on your site, and the student types it into their account. You can also enroll a cash-paying student manually, with no commission.

Is there a mobile app for Basata or Snatr?

Snatr has no app under your name on Google Play or the App Store, and students open your platform in the phone's browser. Basata's pages do not mention a mobile app, and say content opens in a browser on phone and computer.

What does Basata have that Snatr does not?

The free plan, ad pixels and the product marketplace. Also more than one teacher in the same academy, a custom domain from 149 EGP a month, and selling notes and templates as standalone products. In return, Snatr has QR card attendance, branches, a parent portal and live classes inside your platform, and you receive your full price.

If my students exceed my Snatr plan, do sign-ups stop?

No. New students sign up as usual, and you pay for each extra student: 15 EGP on Starter, 10 on Basic and 7 on Pro. On Basata there is no limit on orders, but the 5% commission grows with your sales.

Can I try Snatr before I pay?

Yes, there is a 7-day free trial. If the trial ends without a subscription, your website is closed. The custom domain is not available during the trial.

Can I use Basata and Snatr together?

You can. You could sell your notes and templates on Basata, and run your groups, center and courses on Snatr. But your students will deal with two links, so if both are for the same students, one platform is easier for you and for them.
