What is Udemy, and who is it for?
Udemy is a large US marketplace for online courses at udemy.com. In other words, one shop with courses from many instructors side by side, where students search and buy on Udemy's own website. Instructors sign a contract with Udemy, Inc. in the United States.
According to Udemy's teaching page, it has 80 million students, courses in more than 75 languages, and 1.1 billion course enrollments, in more than 180 countries. These figures are published on their website, not ours.
Publishing on Udemy is free, and there is no monthly subscription. Anyone can create a free course, and if you want to sell for money you apply, free of charge, to become a Premium Instructor. Every course has to pass a quality review before it appears, with at least 30 minutes of video and 5 lectures.
Most of the categories Udemy shows as its most popular are work skills, such as web development, digital marketing, entrepreneurship and IT certifications. A Udemy account must belong to someone who is at least 18.
Snatr at snatr.com does something different: a platform in your own name, where you set your price in EGP and your students register with you. It also includes the tutoring center, attendance and parents in the same account. If you are comparing platforms in your own name such as Teachable, see the Snatr and Teachable comparison or all Snatr comparisons.
